Michael Cooper's Buyers Guide 2010 01 Feb 2010

Michael Cooper's Buyers Guide for 2010 has been out now for a little while - and if you did not find one in your Christmas stocking (or under the Christmas tree!) here is a summary of his reviews for two our wines from our 2009 release.

"Tohu is a joint venture between three Maori land incorporations.  This is a consistently excellent wine and the 2009 vintage offers outstanding value.  A single-vineyard wine, grown in the Awatere Valley, it is weighty and sweet-fruited, with strong, ripe passionfruit-like flavours to the fore, some of the herbaceous, 'tomato stalk' notes typical of the valley, excellent concentration and a crisp, dry, racy finish."

"The 2009 vintage is the best yet.  Grown in the Whenua Matua Vineyard and partly barrel-fermented, it is ripely scented, weighty and rounded, with strong stone-fruit, spice and pear flavours, a touch of complexity and a dryish, finely balanced finish.  Fine value."
