Tohu Wines is thrilled to announce its Rore Reserve Pinot Noir 2006 has been awarded a Gold Medal and Best in Class at the 2008 London International Wine Competition. What could easily be described as one of the worlds most prestigious and competitive wine competitions, a result such as this is more than just a pleasant surprise!
The Rore Pinot Noir 2006 is characterised by its vibrant, dark red and purple appearance. With a well integrated nose of lifted fruits and French oak, the palate is abundant in plum and dark cherry flavours. A simply stunning wine.
A total of five Gold Medals were awarded to New Zealand Pinot Noir, three of which were from Marlborough (the Rore being one of them). This consolidates Marlborough’s reputation as being a consistent and quality producer of this stunning varietal.
Overall New Zealand performed better than ever before, achieving a total of 11 Gold Medals (compared to seven medals awarded last year) and two trophies. New Zealand Winegrowers global marketing director, Chris York, said this year’s results continued to demonstrate increasing diversification among varietals in New Zealand.
